Wonderfully written into to Access programming
Smith and Sussman are some of the best technical writers I have ever read. They have a gift of introducing the concepts at just the right time. Most other writers fall into the trip of using jargon before they explain what they are talking about - something Smith and Sussman never do. They also don't go into overkill explaining topics - like those 1000+ pages shelf dust collectors - but neither are they superficial.

This is a wonderful book for a person with some technical savvy who wants to make his/her initial plunge into the Access/VBA world. This is not a book for the casual Access user but there is no pretense that it is intended to be such.

Let me loose!!!
I suppose that people would only tend to offer feedback if they are particularly impressed with your book. Well i am NO exception. I have to congratulate Robert Smith and David Sussman. There are many many books that i spent many many lunch-breaks browsing through before making my choice. However, there are not many Computing books that can be read sequentially from page to page. God has truly blessed you guys whom have in turn been a blessing to me. I'm only on chapter 4, and can hardly put the book down. It reads like a story. I eagerly await the next chapter of discovery. Just as i intake a bit of text that could have been ambiguous or misunderstood.....there follows an additional paragraph to clear things up. Who says IT people talk-a-load a techno babble? Your book is not a hardcopy reference to an online help series, yet it is a truly well-thought-out, user-friendly piece worthy of crossing the borders!!!!

Now let me loose into chapter 5........

Outstanding book to expand your abilities in Access 97
I had taken a five day class in Access by Executrain and had been working for a few months both before and after that in Access. I was creating some nice databases at work but needed to do more. I bought this book to learn how to use VBA and make more dynamic databases.

This book was everything I had hoped for and more. It is an excellent tutorial and has a perfect match between the book and the sample files on the disk. I tried to learn Access with the "Access 97 Bible" but it had a terrible tutorial and the sample files did not even resemble the book. This book is a must for anyone who wants to create complex, full-feature datbases with great functionality. I have only completed the first six and a half chapters and have learned so much. The text is clear, easy to read, and very well ordered. Despite not having programed basic since my PCjr it was a great reintroduction to programming. It starts off very basic and does not leave you behind.

I could not recommend this book more highly for anyone wanting to program VBA in Access 97

A very good book, but hardly for beginners
A well structured book that gives informative and useful examples that make the theory clear. Having learned 'Basic For' about 15 years previously, and then changing career direction, I needed to catch up on current developments in the field of VBA. The content was excellent and well structured, although there were one or two type errors that were really inexcusable for a subject of this kind. My main critiscism lies in the fact that where the real learning is done (the EXERCISES), no solutions were present. I found this extremely frustrating. I expected them to be on the accompanying cd. Instead, each sample database for each chapter was simply an extension of the chapter before, and not a stand alone database containing more examples or solutions. Also some of my sample applications did not run as they were supposed to.(The Color Schemes add-in of Chapter 14 - only the top half of the dialog box displayed. I need answers!! Very instructive and informative, but hardly for beginners.
