    is there anyway to convert an animated .gif image into a .ico icon?

    I guess that you don't want do this process via code... right?

    Try using Axialis IconWorkShop from www.axialis.com. Easy to use.

    Or if you prefer... post the linkt to the image and I will do the process for you
