In brief, this is one of the best books I've read on building a commercially aware, database back-ended website.
The author assumes nothing other than a basic understanding of the task ahead and sets out on a comfortably paced, in depth and intelligent discussion on what needs to be done. The core code in the book is based on Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Interdev 6.0 and so gently introduces topics such as classes, interfaces, security, catalogues, carts, credit card usage, VB, ASP, MS-SQL etc, that you hardly realise until you're at the end of a chapter just how much of a quantum leap your knowledge has taken. I've read DOZENS of books on the technolgies discussed here and to have the penny drop so resoundingly in one sweet hit was fantastic.
If you are using Microsoft technolgies to build your site(s) and you want to get your head around what's involved then get your head around this book. I give it 42 out of 10. At least.
