French digital music formats

So the french authorities are to force all companies operating in france to allow their music to play on all players

Now, I completely support this; if you buy music it should be like a CD - playable on anything. But is this law really just to help people that can't follow these steps?

- Download song using iTunes
- Burn to CD using iTunes
- Rip CD using your MP3 player's software
- Transfer to your non-Apple MP3 player

errr.... voilà! ;)
