I was amazed to see that what must be the world’s smallest car, seemed to require two full size spaces…

After, some good citizen shows that Smart car the error of their ways:

I might have been inclined to park across the two spaces, i.e. just behind the Smart car thus preventing her (or his) escape - there is space for a whole car in the area to the rear of the Smart car!
