Yay! The IE team have released another build:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/03/20/555703.aspx
I'm back on IE6 at the moment, just on my way to install the new one, having uninstalled the old.... boy IE6 takes a bit of getting used to (even tho it's standard on our testbay machine...)
Hopefully they'll have sorted out some problems! And fingers crossed for min-height [etc.] (although I won't be surprised if it's not there "yet"...)
In other news, Liverpool beat Birmingham 7-0 tonight!!!! Brilliant! (and THAT's why I don't support the team from my home city :p)

An exciting opportunity to dust off and upgrade to the latest version of Cinema 4D, learn the new toolset and generally scream in frustration at failed overnight renders.Click on a thumbnail to view a larger version. This truck does some form of testing on road surfaces as it trundles along.... If I can use an image after the vehicle is released and in use, then I'll post another image or two. This is the first time I've been able to use High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI) technology in the rendering process to create a much more realistic render image than previously.

So the french authorities are to force all companies operating in france to allow their music to play on all players
Now, I completely support this; if you buy music it should be like a CD - playable on anything. But is this law really just to help people that can't follow these steps?
- Download song using iTunes
- Burn to CD using iTunes
- Rip CD using your MP3 player's software
- Transfer to your non-Apple MP3 player
errr.... voilà! ;)

I am loosing count of the amount of times I have seen the Northface demo :) It's dam cool and really shows what WPF can do so I was a little curious as to the steps that fluid went to.
The pitch that fluid made to Northface was done in photoshop to convey 3D, animation and experince. The code samples shown were taken direct from the whitepaper on MSDN. The NF app has a custom navigation scheme and statemangement scheme. In that way it can control what happens to pages and controls between navigation points. Image montage is a collection that is added to the visual tree (what you see), animated, faded, moved to the next item and repeated. 3D spinny thing is a listbox and listboxitem thats extended to re-render how it displays to the screen. I guess that this was done like this to take advantage of its collection support and databinding. VisualBrush is used to do the display override.
Recommend 3D book for WPF is this little number.

I was chatting to Brett about blogging today - he's been desperate to start blogging (he's got so much to say!), so we had a talk about how blogging works and how he can start to spread the word about all of the cool things that he's been doing recently. Brett is lucky - he's running Exchange 12 as his production server, and has just installed 2007 Office system, so some of the new features in Outlook 2007 calendaring just blew him away. Mind you he showed me something new with Exchange 12 that has been added to the build which will blow your socks off when we come to announce it...
Brett and I are doing another round of Exchange 12 Overviews so will become travelling companions again I think with all of the demand for E12 coming up. But if you can't manage to get to a face to face event or demo, why don't you listen in to an E12 overview webcast that Terry gave the other day. It's available for you to watch whenever you feel like it... And if you want to keep up to date with anything 2007 Office System, then Darrens blog is the one you should be monitoring. I've even bribed him with pizza to do a technet event on the Office system - so come along and get the tips first hand...
So come on Brett - I look forward to the pearls of wisdom coming from your blog...!

Big Brother is watching you, or rather there are computers around the globe that know who you are and what you look like.
Riya have brough such a service out and it's now avaliable to the general public not just clandestine government departments and stalkers ...
1. Point the little uploading application at a folder with images contained within it.
2. Wait for *AGES* as the application painstakingly analyzes each image for Text or Faces and then uploads them all to Riya's servers.
3. Go and look at all the Faces it's identified, pretty neat I think you'll agree. Once here you then have to tell Riya who each person is, lots of funky client side code helps you along with autocompletion and slick drag and drop functionality (it even works in FireFox!).
4. Once you've named a few people it's time for Riya to have a go recognising those people in other photos' it's been given, here was it's first attempt after naming six images of individual people, which wasn't that bad, it correctly guessed two people including myself: -
5. Time for some more training now, in quick sucsession I trained a full screen twice and here were the results: -
6. Time to hammer through, after doing two more screens of training I was done, and here's the finished result: -
Check out the finished product here: http://www.riya.com/search?btnGetImagesInFolder=btnGetImagesInFolder&pageNumber=1&folderID=d535a12772aaf0c4&acct=3O3OoiSoYAsTuBfNNr%2BudGUfCU1HPU3J&folderName=2005_1002AspInsiderSummitNigh
So there you have it, the service is better than doing the job yourself, it's not fantastic in that it didn't get them all right, but over time I can see Riya and Flickr becoming very competitive!

Tomorrow afternoon I will be presenting with my collegue Howard van Rooijen at the Microsoft Architect Insight conference on the subject of Agile Architecture.
We are both going to be blogging some of the content we present tomorrow (amongst the half a dozen other blog posts I have in the fire), but until then, I have posted the following five part article previously, covering approaching Agile as a traditional architect:
